Airplane Bathroom News

October 2009-A Japanese airline is attempting to reduce carbon emissions with a new ploy: Have passengers go to the bathroom before boarding.

All Nippon Airways (ANA) believes that empty bladders means lighter passengers, which means less fuel needed to transport them, UK’s Daily Mail reported. ANA hopes the weight saved will lead to a five-ton reduction in carbon emissions over the course of 30 days.

ANA airline staff at boarding gates reportedly are asking passengers to relieve themselves before getting on their flights.

Today I can’t stop exploring the world (I blame it on my father’s Viking blood) and write about my adventures – many as a solo woman traveler. Life isn’t always rosy; I lost my firecracker reasoning skill to head injury in a horrific rollover accident that should have taken my life. Brain injury hasn’t stopped me from traveling, although it sometimes makes for amusing travel antidotes that I hope you will enjoy. That’s why they call me “UNSTOPPABLE!”
