Stacey Wittig was in Cleveland last week for the North American Travel Journalists Association’s conference. The local ABC affiliate followed the travel writers during a Foodie Tour of Ohio City’s West Side Market. The historic market was one of the places where Cleveland’s food secrets were revealed.

You may catch a glimpse of UNSTOPPABLE Stacey sampling sweet baklava. Chef Timothy Maxin of the Ritz Carlton, who shops at the market, hosted the intimate tasting tour.

Earlier that morning, the travel writer was afforded the opportunity to meet and talk with print, TV and cooking panelists who provided “needed insight to write delicious copy that captures the attention of jaded travel editors.”

The four-person panel, headed by Joe David, author of Gourmet Getaways (50 top spots to cook and learn in the United States), discussed how to add a culinary slant to travel pieces that will make them stand out in the marketplace.

Travel tips: The Ritz Carlton – Cleveland offers the Fresh Market Package which starts with a Continental breakfast for two with Chef de Cuisine to review the day’s events and discuss food preferences. The Chef-guided walking tour of the West Side Market includes samples of treats and ingredients guests may select as inclusions in their personalized Fresh Market Lunch following the walking tour. The $489 price tag includes room and in-room amenity of a Ritz-Carlton market bag, bottle of Ohio wine and cheese.

Stacey Wittig is a Flagstaff travel writer who enjoys writing about food. Her culinary adventures have led her up the Inca Trail in Peru, eating fried caterpillars and roasted guinea pig, across the plains of northern Spain on El Camino de Santiago enjoying tapas and steamed barnacles, and through the vineyards of Cinque Terre sipping Chianti Classic. “Food reflects the heart and soul of a culture,” declares the wandering writer who loves sour cream enchiladas at El Charro Restaurant in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Today I can’t stop exploring the world (I blame it on my father’s Viking blood) and write about my adventures – many as a solo woman traveler. Life isn’t always rosy; I lost my firecracker reasoning skill to head injury in a horrific rollover accident that should have taken my life. Brain injury hasn’t stopped me from traveling, although it sometimes makes for amusing travel antidotes that I hope you will enjoy. That’s why they call me “UNSTOPPABLE!”

As is common in the travel industry, UNSTOPPABLE Stacey was provided with exotic fruit box and other food for the purpose of review. While it has not influenced this review, the Arizona travel writer believes in full disclosure of all potential conflicts of interest.

In addition, this blog, UNSTOPPABLE Stacey Travel, contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase through these links, Stacey earns a commission at no extra cost to you. These commissions help reduce the costs of keeping this travel blog active.
